Brantford Power Inc. A private utility with the mandate to provide
electrical service to all Customers within the
Brantford Power Inc. service area, as defined in
the Brantford Power Inc. Distribution License.
Connection
The point at which the Brantford Power Inc. is
connected to the Customer-owned system.
Control(ling) Authority
Authority assigned to the Party that owns
equipment. However, Control Authority is not
synonymous with ownership.
Customer
Person, company or developer which require
electrical servicing for whom / which Brantford
Power Inc. has contracted to do work.
Customer Classified as being Over 50 kW
Customer identified by the billing system as
registering over 50 kW on a demand meter.
Developer
Person, persons or company owning property in
the Brantford Power Inc. service area, for which
new or modified electrical services are to be put
in place.
Distribution System Code
The DSC is the Ontario Energy Board
Distribution System Code.
Interval Meter
An interval meter measures electricity
consumption according to prescribed intervals,
currently on an hourly basis.
Lies Along
A Customer property or parcel of land that is
directly adjacent to or abuts onto the public road
allowance where Brantford Power Inc. has
distribution facilities of the appropriate voltage
and capacity.
Main Service Capacity
Where the Main Service Capacity is referred to
in this Conditions, it is determined to be equal to
80 percent of the main disconnect capacity.
Metering Installations
The metering installation includes meter(s),
instrument transformers and associated wiring.
Operational Point of Demarcation
The point of operational demarcation is the
physical location at which a distributor's
responsibility for operational control of
distribution equipment, including connections,
ends at the Customer.
Owner
Person, persons or company owning property in
the Brantford Power Inc. service area, on which
work is to be done by Brantford Power Inc.
Ownership Point of Demarcation
The point of ownership demarcation is the
physical location at which Brantford Power
Inc. ownership of distribution equipment,
including connections, ends at the
Customer.
Point of Entry
The Point of Entry is the physical location at
which a Brantford Power Inc. conductor enters
under or over private property.
Primary Line Service/Supply
Primary indicates voltages above 750 V.
Retailer
A retailer is a company licensed by the Ontario
Energy Board to retail electricity in the Province
of Ontario.
The Spot Market
The spot market is an hourly commodity market administered by the Independent Electricity Market Operator (IMO),
formerly a division of Ontario Hydro. Spot markets can be volatile and price spikes can occur during
high demand periods like hot summer months or extremely cold winter months. Consumers should anticipate market
prices to increase or spike in high demand periods like hot summer months or extremely cold winter months.
Regulated Price Plan
Brantford Power automatically provides what’s known as the Regulated Price Plan (RPP) to customers who choose NOT to sign a contract with an electricity retailer. Under the RPP, the Ontario Energy Board sets two prices for electricity consumption by residential customers, depending on how much electricity they use each month. Brantford Power passes this charge along at cost.
