Residential service is the supply of electrical energy to detached AND semi-detached
homes as defined in local zoning by-laws. It applies to new services and upgrades and
only to buildings that:
- lie along a distribution line; and
- can be connected without expanding or enhancing the distribution system.
Services to residential buildings other than detached or semi-detached, such as subdivisions,
multi-units or townhouse-type developments, are treated the same as General Service.
Our Conditions of Service manual spells out the roles and responsibilities for both Brantford
Power and residential customers when it comes to matters like: where meters are located,
electrical service upgrading, who bears certain connection costs and requesting electrical
service installation. Click here to download the full Conditions of
Service manual in PDF format.
